Victoria, BC – June 2026
The Victoria Junior A Shamrocks are proud to announce the official submission of their bid to host the
prestigious 2027 Minto Cup, Canada's National Junior A Lacrosse Championship.
As one of the most historic and successful organizations in Canadian lacrosse, the Victoria Junior A
Shamrocks believe Vancouver Island provides an exceptional stage to showcase the highest level of
junior lacrosse while celebrating the rich traditions and passionate community that have supported the
sport for generations.
The proposed championship would be hosted at the Q Centre in the Westshore, British Columbia,
bringing together the nation's top Junior A teams, their families, supporters, and lacrosse fans from across
Canada.
The bid is backed by strong community support, including partnerships with local governments, tourism
organizations, Songhees First Nations , local businesses, volunteers, and the broader lacrosse
community throughout Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island.
"The Minto Cup represents the pinnacle of Junior A lacrosse in Canada," said a representative of the
Victoria Junior A Shamrocks Bid Committee. "Our organization has a proud history of competing for
national championships, and we are excited about the opportunity to welcome the best players, coaches,
and fans in the country to Vancouver Island. This event would not only showcase elite lacrosse but also
highlight our incredible community and the growing impact of the sport in our region."
The 2027 bid highlights Victoria's proven ability to host major sporting events, supported by quality
accommodations, transportation infrastructure, dedicated volunteers, and a passionate lacrosse fan base.
The organizing committee has developed a comprehensive event plan focused on delivering an
exceptional experience for athletes, officials, sponsors, and spectators while creating a lasting legacy for
the sport.
Hosting the Minto Cup would generate significant economic benefits for the region through tourism, hotel
stays, dining, entertainment, and local business engagement while inspiring the next generation of
lacrosse players throughout British Columbia.
The Victoria Junior A Shamrocks would like to thank the many organizations, community leaders,
volunteers, and partners who have contributed to the development of the bid and continue to support the
vision of bringing the 2027 Minto Cup to Vancouver Island.
The bid has now been formally submitted to the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League for
