The Junior ‘A’ Shamrocks are heading to Brampton to represent B.C. at the Minto Cup after an 11-8 victory over the Langley Thunder Saturday.  Victoria wins the series 4 games to 2.

The game, and the series, was hard-fought and well-played by both teams and could have gone either way.  In game 6 Langley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but the Shamrocks battled into a 3-3 tie by the end of the period with Patrick Dodds scoring all 3 Victoria goals.

During period 2, the Rocks climbed into an 8-6 lead as 5 different players scored, including Dodds with his 4th.  Cameron Lumb, Jordan Neary, Mitch Sandberg and Shane Halliwell had the others while Langley got a pair from Noah Armitage.

Victoria scored the first two goals of the final frame, Sandbrg picking up his second and Fin Halladay the other.  With a little over 5 minutes left, Langley scored with the extra attacker, Armitage getting the hat trick.  Brayden Laity scored an empty-netter at 17:01 and the Thunder got 1 more with the extra attacker at 17:34, Drew Kask with his second of the game.

Shots on goal were 54-45 in Victoria’s favour as both Adam Bland for the Shamrocks and Brayden Wandler for Langley had strong games and strong series.

Patrick Dodds led the offense with 4 goals and 2 assists while Mitch Sandberg had 2 goals and 3 helpers.  Brayden Laity and Shane Halliwell chipped in a goal and an assist with singles coming from Cameron Lumb, Jordan Neary and Finn Halladay.

Noah Armitage led Langley’s attack with 3 goals and 3 assists with Drew Kask chipping in 2 goals and an assist.

Victoria will join representatives from Alberta and Ontario to compete for the ultimate in Junior 'A' lacrosse, beginning August 22.
