Both the Tier 1 and Junior ‘A’ Shamrocks have momentum rolling into their weekend action.  The Jr. ‘A’ Rocks, after dropping their first two games of the season, have an unbeaten streak of 5 games with 4 wins and a tie as they host the Delta Islanders Saturday at the Q Centreat 4:00 pm.  The top of the standings are pretty close with both New Westminster and Port Coquitlam sitting in first with 10 points while Coquitlam and Victoria are just a point behind.

Braylon Lumb leads the Shamrocks and the league in scoring with 40 points on 21 goals and 19 assists, well ahead of Nanaimo’s Thomas Vaesen with 29 points.  This weekend’s opposition, the Islanders are near the bottom of the pack with just 1 win but that doesn’t mean they will be taken lightly.

They are riding a 5-game winning streak into the Q Centre Saturday at1:00 when they will face the Richmond Roadrunners with a record of 1 win,  5 losses and an overtime loss.  Like theJr. ‘A’ team, the Tier 1 Shamrocks also boast the league’s top scorer in Patrick Dodds with 38 points.

Both teams are on the mainland Sunday facing the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

This weekend also sees the start of the WLA Shamrocks season as they host the Burnaby Lakers tonight at 7:30 at the Q Centre.  This team has a number of very successful Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks alumni on the roster including this year’s captain, Matt Yager.  Yager is a formerJr. ‘A’ captain.  Other alumni includeJosh Fagan, Rhys Duch, Cody Hagedorn, Danny Smith and Zac Christianson from last season’s team, Casey Jackson, Jesse King, Chris Wardle and Dallas Wade.  Lots of Shamrocks action this weekend
