Adanacs Rebound to Regain Series Lead

With their best-of-seven league final series tied at a game apiece the Jr. A Shamrocks and Coquitlam Adanacs hooked up Saturday in Coquitlam for game 3. The home team rebounded to win 12-8, taking a 2-1 series lead.

Starting goaltenders were once again Greyson Beggs for Victoria and Marcus Khan for Coquitlam. The home team got off to a 3-0 start beginning at 2:11 of the opening period when Aidan McDonald scored from outside the dotted line. They took a 2-0 lead on Henrik Lucas’ unassisted tally at 3:07 getting in close on a run. Ethan Gordon capped the 3-goal run at 1:16 from inside the dotted line. The Shamrocks hit the scoreboard at 11:37, Carter Quested capitalizing from outside the dotted line. The team then traded goals, scoring a combined 4 goals in the last 4 minutes of the period. Keegan Laity scored for the home team at 16:08, faking high and shooting low. Ryan Lowe got that one back 14 seconds later with a low shot. Laity picked up his second at 17:43 from outside the dotted arc and Marcelo Carreiro replied for the Shamrocks, reaching from behind the net at 18:40. That cut the deficit to 2, Coquitlam leading 5-3 going into the first intermission.

The second period again saw the home team score the first 3 goals. Parker Kennedy dived across the crease to score at 8:36. McDonald collected his second on a power play at 9:16 and Nathan Chalmers gave the Adanacs an 8-3 lead at 12:14 getting in alone behind the Victoria defense. The Shamrocks weren’t going away and Evan Mcdougall replied from outside the dotted line at 13:40. Jett Klassen then got the Rocks back within 3 goals with a quick stick from the side at 18:01. After 40 minutes it was 8-5 for Coquitlam.

Coquitlam’s Hansen Peck opened scoring in period 3, connecting from just inside the dotted line at 3:02. Carreiro picked up his second of the game for Victoria at the 9-minute mark, getting in close. The teams continued to trade goals, Gordon getting his second for the home team at 12:37. Victoria’s captain Greysen Thompson tallied at 15:34 unassisted. With Beggs on the Victoria for the extra attacker Alec McNamara scored into the empty net at 16:08. Macdougall got his second of the game for the visitors at 18:34 but Owen Eckert iced the game at 19:12 with another empty netter.

Leading Victoria offensively were Carter Quested and Greysen Thompson with a goal and 3 assists each. Evan Mcdougall had 2 goals and 1 assist while Marcelo Carreiro also had a pair of goals. Jett Klassen added a goal and 2 assists, Ryan Lowe one of each. Greyson Beggs made 33 saves.

For Coquitlam it was Nathan Chalmers with a 5-point night on a goal and 4 assists, Hansen Peck with a goal and 3 helpers and Alec McNamara a goal and 2 assists. Keegan Laity, Aidan McDonald and Ethan Gordon each has a pair of goals while Marcus Khan made 39 saves to pick up the win.

Game 4 is back at the Q Center Sunday at 6:00 pm with at least a guaranteed game 5 in Coquitlam Wednesday, August 5^th at 5:30. Should a game 6 be required it will be at the Q Center Saturday, August 8 at 3:00 pm.
